As we wrap up September, I want to take a moment to reflect on our journey so far this school year. It has been wonderful to see our students settle into their routines, build new friendships, and embrace the learning opportunities that await them. Thank you for your continued support and engagement; it truly makes a difference!
At Northeast College Prep, we use the CARES acronym to focus our work on social emotional learning. CARES stands for Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control. Your students have already begun talking about how we show CARES in our school community. What are some ways they can show CARES at home as well? Ask your student to think of examples that might be the same at home and school and some that might be different.
As always, your partnership is vital to our success. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Family Connections Night!

ACES starts on October 7th. ACES is a voluntary after-school program focused on improving student math and social emotional learning through the lens of sports. The overarching aim is to close the academic opportunity gap for students. The program is Monday through Thursday from 2:30-5:30. As part of the program, ACES conducts several after school field trips such as seeing the Timberwolves play, US Bank Stadium tour, Treasure Island bowling, etc. If you are interested in enrolling a student in the ACES program, you can reach out to Rachel Sawdy at rachelsawdy@aces4kids.org. |

Get Vaccinated for Measles
|
There is currently a measles outbreak in Minnesota, primarily in unvaccinated children ages 2-10 years old in the Twin Cities Metro area. There have been 51 confirmed cases of measles in Minnesota in 2024 related to the current outbreak. At this time, we do not have any cases of measles at Northeast College Prep.
Roughly one third of cases have been hospitalized. Because measles spreads easily through the air, even before people may have symptoms, a single case of measles at a school can, and has, led to the entire school being exposed. Please consider getting your family vaccinated for Measles if you haven’t already. Please contact the office if you need help finding a clinic for getting vaccinated.

School picture day has not yet been scheduled. Our previous photographer had to cancel our contract, so we are in the process of finding a new photographer. Once a new photographer has been found and a date set, we will share that information with families. |

We are still accepting applications for students to attend Northeast College Prep for the 2024-2025 school year! Applications can be found on our website and are available in English, Spanish, Somali, and Arabic.
