| | Hello, everyone! My name is Andrea Halverson and I'm so excited to return to NECP for my second year as the Executive Director! This is a busy time of year for us at school, but we can't wait to see you and your students very soon!
Our summer has been busy getting the school building ready for students to return. Our staff returns next week to begin preparing classrooms for learning. Our first day of school is September 3rd.
I look forward to seeing you at our Back to School event on August 29th!

| | Back to School/Meet the Teacher |
We will be hosting our back to school/meet the teacher event on August 29th! Families may visit the school any time between 12pm and 7pm. All families should plan to attend as this will be your main opportunity to take care of any last minute things before school starts. For our returning families, we have combined the back to school event with meet the teacher night rather than two separate events.
At this event you will be able to: - Meet your student's teachers
- Complete any remaining enrollment paperwork
- Update your contact information
- Get set up with our new bus tracking app and our communication app
- Communicate with our school nurse, special education team and others for any of your child's unique needs
- Pick up your free uniform shirt and buy additional shirts (optional)

| | Here Comes the Bus! - NEW APP! |
This year, Northeast College Prep will have an app that families can use to track their student's bus route to and from school. The app is called Here Comes the Bus. The app will also allow us to send messages when there are bus delays.
To get the app, download Here Comes the Bus from your device's app store. To gain access to your student's route information, you will need their last name, their student ID, and the district code (which is 30004). You should be receiving a letter in the mail that contains your child's student ID and their bus route information, including bus stop location, bus stop pick up and drop off times, and bus route number. If your student is riding the bus and you don't receive your letter, please call our office at 612-248-8240.
Families will be able get help to download the app at our back to school event on August 29th. Our goal is to have 100% of all bus riding families signed up for the app! | |

| | Starting this year, students will no longer be able to wear hooded sweatshirts as a part of their uniforms. Crew neck sweatshirts are still allowed and will be available for purchase at our back to school event. We will no longer be selling hooded sweatshirts.
Middle School students in 7th and 8th grade may still wear light blue and orange polo shirts if they choose to. | |

| | Is your family ready for back to school? Here are a few things for you to know before we start the year at NECP: - All students wear uniforms. Our uniform guidelines can be found here. Students may wear polo shirts with an NECP logo or a plain navy polo without a logo.
- No need for school supplies - NECP provides all school supplies for its students.
- Breakfast and lunch are provided free of charge every day! Students may also choose to bring lunch from home.
- Is your student up to date on their immunizations? Information about required immunizations can be found here. Students entering kindergarten and 7th grade have new immunizations at those ages, so check with your health care provider.
- Sleep is important for learning! The American Academy for sleep recommends for children 6 to 12 years of age should sleep 9 to 12 hours per 24 hours. Now is a great time to start getting into a routine for school so learners are well rested and ready to learn!

We are still accepting applications for students to attend Northeast College Prep for the 2024-2025 school year! Applications can be found on our website and are available in English, Spanish, Somali, and Arabic.

| | REMINDER: New Communication App - ParentSquare |
Northeast College Prep will start using a new messaging system this summer. We will be using Parent Square. You can download the app on your phone or we can send messages to your email or text message. If you currently have the Reachwell app downloaded, you may delete it as we will no longer be using that app.
Families can get help downloading the new communication app at our back to school event on the 29th!
To get started, download the Parent Square app from your app store (Android or iPhone). You should receive an invitation from Northeast College Prep. You will need to enter either an email or phone number and it must match the information we have on file to get into the app. If you need a new invite, please call our office at 612-248-8240.
Families will also be able to choose their preferred language of communication once they download the app. | |
